Terms of Service
1. Agreement to terms
By downloading, installing, or using SweatGate ("the app"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you don't agree, don't use the app.
2. What SweatGate does
SweatGate restricts access to apps you choose to gate (e.g., social media apps) until you complete a qualifying workout that day, verified via Apple HealthKit or Google Health Connect. You control which apps are gated and can adjust your settings at any time, subject to the anti-gaming lock described below.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old (or the applicable minimum age in your jurisdiction) to use SweatGate, and capable of forming a binding contract.
4. Subscription & payment terms
- SweatGate offers a 7-day free trial with full access. A valid payment method is required to start the trial.
- After the trial, subscription plans are billed at $6.99/month or $29.99/year unless canceled before the trial ends.
- Subscriptions auto-renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, through your Apple ID / Google Play account settings — SweatGate does not process cancellations directly.
- Bypass fees: you may use a limited number of paid "bypass" days per week in addition to free bypasses, to skip the workout requirement for a day. These are one-time in-app purchases processed through Apple/Google, non-refundable except as required by Apple's / Google's own refund policies.
- All payments are processed by Apple App Store or Google Play, not directly by SweatGate. Refund requests go through Apple/Google, per their standard policies.
5. Health data & medical disclaimer
SweatGate is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice. The workout-verification logic (heart-rate thresholds, workout-type detection) is a best-effort approximation, not a certified fitness or medical assessment. Consult a physician before beginning any new exercise program, especially if you have a pre-existing health condition. SweatGate is not responsible for injuries, health outcomes, or decisions made based on the app's workout detection.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Attempt to circumvent, spoof, or falsify the workout-verification system
- Use the app for any unlawful purpose
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the app, except as permitted by law
- Share your account with others in a way that circumvents the subscription model
7. The anti-gaming settings lock
To preserve the app's core purpose, changing certain settings (such as your gated-app list) mid-week, or deleting the app during an active locked period, may require your device's Screen Time passcode. This is a deliberate design choice you agree to by using the app — it exists to help you follow through on your own stated intent, not to lock you out of your own device.
8. Your account
You're responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activity under your account. Notify us promptly at hello@trysweatgate.com if you suspect unauthorized access.
9. Termination
You may stop using SweatGate and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, including attempts to circumvent workout verification.
10. Disclaimers & limitation of liability
SweatGate is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be flagged in-app; continued use after changes means you accept the updated terms.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Arizona, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
